Job Position: Auto Maintenance Manager

Job Summary
We are looking to engage a competent and proactive Auto Maintenance Manager to take full responsibility for the upkeep and performance of our fleet, comprising mostly of trailers, trucks, and operational vehicles.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in automobile maintenance, maintenance planning and leadership capability to support the logistics & distribution team.
Organize and oversee regular preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and servicing of trucks and trailers to minimise downtime.
Utilize diagnostic tools to effectively identify and address vehicle and trailer issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues using appropriate diagnostic equipment and technical expertise.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs, including replaced parts, labour, and associated costs.
Lead and manage a team of mechanics and technicians, including scheduling, task delegation, and ongoing training on new technologies and methods.
Ensure adequate stock of spare parts and supplies, managing inventory and coordinating reorders as needed.
Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards, as well as transport regulations, including licensing, emissions, and roadworthiness compliance.
Develop and manage the budget for vehicle maintenance, seeking ways to optimize costs without compromising safety or quality.
Establish and enforce workshop safety protocols, preventing accidents and ensuring technician safety.
Investigate vehicle-related accidents, assess damages, and coordinate necessary repairs.
Provide regular performance reports to management, covering fleet uptime, maintenance costs, and other key metrics.
Oversee the preparation and upkeep of documentation related to maintenance, compliance, and audits.
Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors, suppliers, and service providers for maintenance-related needs.
Other Requirements
HND or BSc in Automobile Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Technical Diploma in Auto or Vehicle Maintenance will be considered.
5-10 years’ experience in fleet maintenance in a structured logistics, haulage or related company.
Strong technical knowledge of maintenance and diagnostics of diesel engines, CNG trucks, trailer systems, hydraulics, and electronic diagnostics.
Hands-on proficiency in heavy vehicle maintenance, diagnostics and repair.
Good leadership and team management skills, with a track record of leading maintenance teams effectively.
